A joint piece of work between the Healthier Lancashire and South Cumbria (HLSC), Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit (MLCSU) and the Lancashire and South Cumbria Medicines Management Group (LSCMMG) has been focused on providing a suite of new guidance, prescribing resources and patient education material for use across the Lancashire and South Cumbria health economy.
The focus of the work has been the best use of healthcare resources and better outcomes for patients, including the promotion of social prescribing. For those not familiar with social prescribing, HLSC has developed a video explaining what this means and can be viewed below.
What is social prescribing?
What resources are available?
There are now three sets of resources being made available to primary care patients and prescribers: chronic pain patient and prescriber resources, suicide prevention resources and vitamin D prescriber resources.
The patient resources have been compiled so that they can be easily shared with patients by accessing lancsmmg.nhs.uk and choosing 'Clinical Resources' from the main menu.
